How to build a routine and stick to it

In our first blog post we told you about 5 useful habits to acquire in 2024and today we'll continue by helping you build a routine you can follow with ease.

 

First, let's start with what a routine actually is and why we need one? Doesn't it make our life boring and monotonous? And isn't it just another fashion?

Simply put, routine is the way we build habits, both good and bad. That's why there are people who often have the impression that routine is something we need to escape from, because it contains all the sameness of life. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Every one of us already has a routine built up, which we even unconsciously repeat every day. You get up, brush your teeth, make coffee, have breakfast and so on throughout the day. For it to work in our favor, we need to add more good habits, replacing with them those that make us feel unsatisfied.

First and foremost, our routine should be enjoyable and energizing. Its purpose is to help us:

To deal with stress more effectively, which in turn will lead to better mental health, more time to relax and less anxiety. Movement has been shown to reduce stress levels in the body, so even a 5-minute walk will put you in a better mood. Don't skip it!

To sleep better. A strict bedtime schedule at night affects our mental acuity, emotional well-being and energy. Maintaining the same wake-up and bedtime can help you get a better night's rest. Our little secret to a restful night is a few lavender-scented sleep drops on the pillow.

Eating healthier. Without a planned time for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we often turn to fast food because we are already very hungry and this is the fastest option. It's common for people with hectic lifestyles (and isn't everyone) to skip breakfast and lunch in favor of getting more work done. This needs to change immediately! The brain doesn't work without food. Make it a priority, and in a few weeks it will be a habit. We recommend buying 2-in-1 meal boxes to prepare in the evening for the next day. To become more active. It's easier to exercise regularly when you have dedicated time for it. We're guessing that after reading all of this, you're already feeling overwhelmed and stressed about having to incorporate so many new things into your life. Relax! To build a routine that works, you need to take action one step at a time.


Don't think you have to change your lifestyle in one day. It has to happen smoothly. Make a plan, starting with three things you want to start practicing this month, and start incorporating them into your daily life.

 

Remember, studies show that it takes an average of 66 days to build a habit. Be consistent!

 

Set small goals. Divide each big goal into smaller ones, because that will make it easier to achieve. If the ultimate goal is to eat healthier, start by changing one thing a day, every day, to build confidence. When you achieve it, be proud!

Make your routine your favorite thing! Find a workout buddy, play your favorite playlist while you clean, and try new recipes.

It will be easier, and a lot of fun, if you write down each goal in a calendar or journal. That way you can track your progress.
