30 things I learned about my skin before I turned 30

If you're worried that the years are flying by and by the time you turn 30, relax! The good things in your life are yet to come and these are the best years to shine. My 30th birthday is just a few days away and on this occasion, I thought I'd share with you 30 things I've learned about my skin that it really needs.

On my way to creating MUSE Cosmetics, I learned a lot. I traveled to different trade shows, read countless textbooks, books and scientific papers, tested all kinds of ingredients. I dare to say that I have gained a lot of experience in the field of cosmetics and I want to share it with you. No matter what age you are, I think you'll find something useful here to help you build a better skincare routine. Use my tips and tricks as a lesson.

Let's get started!

1. The importance of regular cleaning: I have found that cleansing the skin in the morning and at night is key to preventing clogged pores. ❌ No wet wipes! Using gentle makeup removers prevents irritation and skin damage.

2. Hydration is vital: Don't underestimate the power of a good moisturizer, even for oily skin. ❗️Хидратацията is key for acne-prone skin to reduce inflammation.

3. Sun protection is a must every day, even a gloomy one: Using sunscreen every day can prevent skin aging and UV damage.

4. The importance of sleep: The quality and quantity of sleep significantly affect skin health. 😱 The best time to fall asleep is between 10pm and 11pm. This is how the body recovers most fully.

5. Healthy eating also affects our skin: A diet rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins improves the appearance of the skin. 🥬 I make sure to include salmon, spinach, parsley, seasonal fruits in my weekly menu.

6. Regular exfoliation: It helps remove dead skin cells and improves skin regeneration. 🧡 Using a detox face mask twice a week was a GAME CHANGER for me.

7. Refraining from touching the face: Ever since we were little, we know that dirty hands carry bacteria, and put on our face can lead to acne. It is also good to refrain from squeezing the pimples because if we do it improperly, it increases inflammation. If you don't touch it, it will go away faster, trust me. 😉

8. The use of serum: Serums with active ingredients such as vitamin C and hyaluronic acid can have a profound effect on the health and appearance of the skin.

9. Don't overdo it: Using too much product can lead to aggravated skin and clogged pores. 🤍 I apply cream and serum in a thin layer that is easily absorbed.

10. Stress affects the skin: Reducing stress and practicing meditation or yoga can improve skin condition.

11. The importance of water: Drinking enough water every day helps hydrate the skin from the inside. 💦 I try to take 1.8 - 2l of water a day.

12. Professional beauty treatments: Visits to a dermatologist or beautician can do wonders! Regular cleansing with an esthetician is the key to clear skin and successful penetration of product ingredients.

13. Removing makeup before sleep: Sleeping with makeup on can clog pores and lead to acne. 🔥 I never go to bed with makeup on, even if it's 5:00am.

14. Attention to product ingredients: I learned to read labels and avoid harmful ingredients like silicones, parabens and sulfates. Some of these can be potentially carcinogenic.

15. Forget about the brand: Overpriced or very popular cosmetics are not always the best. The most important thing is the ingredients and their concentration in the product!

16. Prevention of contamination: Using antioxidant products can protect the skin from harmful emissions.

17. Avoiding heat damage: Limiting the use of hot water helps prevent dry skin. Try to wash your face with cool water.

18. Understanding that skin changes over time: Accepting changes and adapting care as you age is important.

19. Taking vitamins and supplements: Supplemental intake of certain vitamins and minerals can support skin health. 💥 A top discovery for my skin is Zinc.

20. The importance of face masks: Regular use of face masks can offer deep hydration and healing. 🧖🏼‍♀️ Weekly mask use is key in skin care.

21. Yes, acne and first wrinkles can coexist: It's a myth that once you pass a certain age, your skin will change and no longer be prone to acne. 🤌🏻 Here you need complex care: intake of supplements such as zinc, plenty of water, gentle natural products that do not contain skin-drying ingredients, reduction of dairy and sugar intake. Your skin will start to improve after the second week.

22. Balancing the pH of the skin: Maintaining the right pH balance is important for healthy skin. 🌟 Choose products with an acidic pH. If you don't know if they are, ask the salesperson.

23. Incorporating helpful habits: A healthy lifestyle, including regular physical activity, is key for your skin 💧 Make sure to clean your skin before exercise and don't sport makeup.

24. Avoiding diets that harm the skin: Certain foods can cause inflammation and acne; understanding which ones they are has helped improve my skin - for me, it's dairy and sugary products.

25. Make-up is a temporary solution: No matter what we talk about, everyone tries to "mask" their problems first instead of solving them. Foundation is a quick fix, but when your skin is too oily or too dry, even it can't help. And it often makes things worse because it clogs our pores. The right investment is in solving the problem, not covering it up!

26. Soothe irritated skin: I learned how to soothe my skin when it is irritated or inflamed. 💆🏻‍♀️ I don't apply any products for 1-2 days and let my face rest, but I make sure to wash it twice a day.

27. The importance of lip care: Regular hydration and exfoliation of the lips are also important for overall skin health. 👄 I use a gentle lip scrub 1-2 times a week, a night mask every night before sleep and a daytime balm during the day.

28. Lifting at home: Regular use of roller or gua sha really works and has an effect! Just be consistent.

29. Eye care: The eye area is particularly sensitive and requires special products. 👁️ I don't use scented eye creams because I find perfumes irritating and cause allergic reactions.

30. Patience is key: I've learned that improvements in skin condition take time and persistence, and that it's important not to expect immediate results from new products or routines. 💯 Results from facials are visible as early as the second month of use. Take daily care and the positive change will not be late!
