Urban SPF - why does the sun in the office also leave marks?

Where does the light tan on your skin or the pigment spots come from when you work in front of your laptop for 8 hours a day? We suspect it's not from the Maldives. And have you ever wondered why the moment you put on your t-shirt, and you immediately have a slight difference on your sleeve, even if you were just in the car. Are the rays also coming through the protected windows of the car? OH, YES! The sun doesn't ask if you're at the beach or in front of an Excel spreadsheet, and your skin feels every invisible attack from UVA rays - even through a window, on a cloudy day, or in the office. Welcome to the world of urban SPF - the invisible shield against aging, pigmentation and photo stress.
☀️ UVA vs. UVB - not the same
Most of us associate SPF with sunburn (UVB). But the real "silent killer" for the skin is UVA rays - they penetrate deeper, you don't feel when they hit you, but they are the main culprit for premature ageing, pigment spots, sagging skin and even skin cancer.
And yes, UVA rays do pass through glass - the office window, the car window, the cafeteria window... And even in cloudy weather.
💻 Blue light = another invisible enemy
Besides the sun, our skin is subjected to an additional "stress": HEV (High-Energy Visible) or the so-called blue light from screens - phones, laptops, tablets.
Recent studies have shown that prolonged exposure to blue light, especially in the range around 415 nm, can contribute to oxidative stress in the skin (eimbalance between free radicals and antioxidants), inflammation, a disrupted skin barrier layer and a deepening of hyperpigmentation, especially in darker phototypes.
💡 How does SPF help with blue light protection?
The Blue Light is the part of the visible light spectrum right next to UV rays. It is emitted both from the sun and from the screens of phones, laptops, tablets, LED lights and televisions. It penetrates deeper than UVB and can have negative effects on the skin - even indoors. This is exactly why there are SPF products that are effective and protect your skin from it too.
The mineral filter, for example, creates a physical barrier that reflects some of the HEV rays. The antioxidants in the formula neutralise the effects of oxidative stress caused by blue light. Vitamin C, E and niacinamide filter out HEV rays. Don't forget, the factor is important too! Go for a factor of 50.
And yes, you should apply it every day. Without exception!
Even in winter. Even if you're "just in meetings" at Zoom.
